- ATB Place (10020 100 Street) is now home to Roam Cafe’s second location.
- While DRTY Ice Cream has closed their Station Park location for the winter, they will be opening a winter location in Foosh at 10544 Whyte Avenue NW.
- Coffee House 77 opened on October 3 at 1377 Rosenthal Blvd NW.
- But First, Matcha offers matcha inside Reviv RN at 5356 Admiral Girouard Street NW, opening three weeks ago.
- Crumb Bar is opening a second location this fall at 12307 102 Avenue NW.
- I missed the opening of Dac Biet Restaurant back in May, at 10734 142 Street NW.
Closures
- When the calendar turns on 2026, the total number of hospitality business closures will be significant. But what should yield a greater reckoning and reflection is how many longer-standing and community-minded businesses have shuttered this year. The latest: Felice Cafe, which closed on October 1: “Outwardly, we looked very successful. The Cafe was busy, our community was strong, and we were growing year over year. What you didn’t see behind the scenes was the incredible amount of financial strain, emotional stress, and physical burden running a hospitality business takes.”
- Wht Rabit closed their location until further notice.
Upcoming Events
- Woodshed Burgers will be offering a gluten-free menu day on October 7.
- The Great Canadian Chili Cook-off, a part of the Canadian Finals Rodeo festivities, will take place on October 9. Tickets are $25 and include samples of up to 12 chilis, and the chance to vote for your favourite.
- The Stony Plain Road Business Improvement Area organized a Dining Week from October 1-10, 2026. Dine in at any of the two dozen participating restaurants in order to be entered to win one of three $100 gift cards.
- Picklefest is holding a home pickling competition at their event on October 17 at Ice District. It does not appear that prizes will be awarded, apart from recognition.

What I Ate
- Mack and I had lunch at King Noodle House last week to satisfy my bun bo hue craving. I would say it is soup season, but for me, that’s actually year-round.

- Mack and I also headed out to a couple of places to celebrate our anniversary. It’s been a while since our last visit to Partake, where we are partial to their cocktails and bar snacks.

- We also took this opportunity to return to RGE RD, the restaurant where we hosted our wedding reception. We opted for the road trip, and appreciated the variety and range of tastes. My favourite course was a vibrant and distinct kiwi gazpacho – it’s hard to think of another restaurant in the city that would serve something like this.
